IRV for the Voter
Voting in an IRV Ranked Choice election is simple
and straightforward.
When you receive your IRV ballot, you will be asked to state your preferences for the candidates that are running for office.
In this example, the voter prefers Candidate C for Mayor and marks Candidate C as the first choice.
The voter then marks Candidate D as the second choice. By marking a second choice, the voter is saying that if Candidate C comes in last place then the ballot should be counted as a vote for Candidate D instead.
The voter continues to fill out the ballot until all his or her preferences are clearly marked.
